Dr. Ian Stavness is an Associate Professor of Computer Science at USask and directs the Biological Imaging & Graphics (BIG) lab focused on deep learning, computer vision, and 3D modeling for biological applications.
Stavness is a leader in biological imaging and modelling (OpenSim Fellow; founding member and core developer of ArtiSynth, an innovative open source software platform for simulating biomechanics with fast finite-element methods).
His research focuses on semantic segmentation, object detection, and object counting problems in aerial imaging of plants.
